GM’s global product development process directly benefits U.S. consumers
GM’s strategy is to build high volume vehicles in the regions where it sells them. This helps us lower the cost of the vehicles and fine-tune them for local markets. It also reduces the impact of currency exchange rates. However, because GM designers and engineers now work globally, what we learn in Europe and Asia directly benefits customers in the U.S. For example, our experience in Europe helped refine the CTS, Aura and Malibu. The recently introduced Opel Insignia is the first of a whole new family of global midsize cars. And the upcoming Chevy Cruze will be a truly global small car, built and sold in regions around the world.
We will import vehicles like the Chevy Aveo, Pontiac G3 and Saturn Astra when it makes sense for GM, its dealers and its customers.
